Our early morning flight brings us in a little more than 1 hour to Leh, where we have a free day to acclimate to the high altitudes. You can enjoy the traveler-friendly environment, the Old Town with an imposing Tibetan-style palace, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of your hotel room/guest house.
Day 3: Tour of Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace
On the third day, we accompany you on a walk to visit the Shanti Palace and the Leh Palace, navigated by our local guide. He will tell us all about the history of the area. Afterwards we’ll enjoy an evening stroll in the local market. It will be a busy day. In the evening you can enjoy some rest in the hotel room/guest house.
Day 4: Visit Shey, Thiksey & Hemis Monastery
Morning Yoga Class. After breakfast we will drive to Hemis: a monastery and museum. We will then drive to Thiksey where you will have lunch. After lunch, we will then go to another monastery, They Palace, where you will practice evening mediation. Night in Leh.
Day 5: Stok Palace & Village Tour
Morning Yoga Class. After breakfast, we will leave for Stock Palace and the local village. We will spend time in the village interacting with the locals and learn about their daily lives and culture. One can enter a family house to partake in tea and discuss their everyday life or go on a trek to a nearby mountain. We will drive back to Leh in the evening. Night in hotel.
Day 6 & 7: Likir
We have a fairly short drive to Likir in Ladakh, where we’ll visit the village and the local monastery. The scenery has breathtaking views over the valley and there’s a monk school opposite the monastery. The monastery is the ideal setting for a meditation session. Afterwards we will spend the night in a homestay with a local family.
Day 8: Lamayuru
We drive to Lamayuru. There we will meditate in the local Monastery. We visit the village and once again, we visit with the local people in our homestay.
Day 9: Drive Back to Leh via Alchi
We drive back to Leh from Lamayuru. On the way back, we stop to attend the morning Puja in the Alchi Monastery.
Day 10: Leh to Diskit
After an early breakfast, we will drive the Khardung La: The highest road system in the world. It’s a 5359 meter high mountain pass in the northwest Himalayas. We pass through Khasar and continue to Diskit. In Diskit, we stretch our legs and visit the monastery. Afterwards, we continue to Hunder. Not by motorized traffic this time because we’ll have a 6 km walk on the sand dunes next to the Shyok or “the River of Death”.
Once in Hunder, we’ll be able to see the contrast of the green village with the arid and desolate surroundings. After our visit we return to Diskit where we will spend the night.
Day 11: Diskit to Panamik (3232 m), 85 km Back to Sumour
We depart from Diskit to discover Panamik, a large settlement at the bank of the Nubra Valley where we will kick off the visit with meditation or yoga. We will then relax and soak in the natural hot sulphur spring baths. This will feel wonderful after all of that driving.
Day 12: Drive Back to Leh
After we meditate and/or enjoy a yoga session, we travel back to Leh where you will check in and enjoy a free afternoon.
Day 13: Flight to Delhi
